Overview of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)
Here at Rejuvenative, we use Alocuro PRO-PRP devices which provide a high platelet concentration of 8x baseline with very low leukocyte concentration of 0.15x baseline and extremely low neutrophil collection of 0.3%.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is an innovative treatment that stimulates the body’s natural healing process uses the patient’s own cells to promote accelerated, long-lasting healing. Many leading international researchers have agreed that PRP should be defined more precisely and that the platelet concentration should be above 3x physiological levels found in whole blood to be labelled as PRP. This higher concentration of platelets provides a powerful cellular therapy of bioactive growth factors which are reported to promote healing by:
- tissue regeneration and rejuvenation,
- induction of cell differentiation,
- extracellular matrix formation,
- recruitment of other cells to the site of injury, and
- an increase in collagen production (which can increase skin thickness and overall skin health for skin rejuvenation procedures)
Aesthetics (skin rejuvenation)
In dermatology and cosmetic medicine, PRP has been used to treat acne, scarring, skin rejuvenation and tightening around the eyes (for sun-damaged and ageing skin and fine lines) and in the following areas: cheeks and midface, jawline and submalar regions, back of hands, decolletage, and others (eg, knees, elbows, and upper arms, as well as for stretch marks.
Medical Practitioners who use Alocuro PRO-PRP devices have completed training in the specific PRP protocol. Procedures will be provided under stringent aseptic and QA guidelines to provide a safe medical procedure with very minimal risk of complications and a higher chance that the PRP will be of benefit to their patients in managing their clinical problem.
