Thread Lift

Overview of Thread Lift

As we age, the effects of gravity on our body become more noticeable. In the face, the supporting tissues of the cheeks weaken and facial fat pads which form firm and youthful contours start to disappear. This results in facial sagging.

At Rejuvenative, in Sunshine Coast, we offer minimally invasive thread lift procedures to patients who are suitable for this technique of facial rejuvenation. Dr Jadoon is a national trainer for promoitialia threads in Sunshine Coast and has successfully performed hundreds of thread lift procedures using absorbable silhouette soft, PDO, mint & promoitalia threads.

For an obligation-free consultation and to discuss any surgical or non-surgical facelift options such as thread lift, please contact our clinic in Sunshine Coast or call us on (08) 9381 0000 or email at

Thread Lift FAQs

How long does thread lift last?

Most patients report longevity of up to two years. Due to the absorbable nature of threads, more threads can be inserted at any time to maintain the results long term.

What is a Thread Lift?

A thread lift is a delicate cosmetic procedure that gently lifts sagging facial skin and improves its tone and texture.

Thread lift is performed using delicate absorbable sutures which are inserted under the skin in a strategic manner using fine needles of cannulas. Thread lift has become increasingly popular in Australia and Asia over the past few years.

Various thread lifting procedures have been trialled for many years with variable outcomes and somewhat suboptimal clinical results. Why is that?

Thread lift is often seen as a non-surgical alternative to a surgical facelift and this is why many patients opting for this procedure are not happy with the results. Patients expect similar results as what surgery would offer and are disappointed when that doesn’t happen.

It is important to understand that Thread Lift is a facial rejuvenation procedure which improves the facial sagging but is NOT an alternative to a Facelift. The results are subtle and natural-looking and last for twelve to eighteen months in most cases. Dr Jadoon is very careful when recommending Thread Lift as a treatment option. When performed on the right patient, thread lift delivers excellent results.

Many doctors performing the earlier procedures were not properly trained and it took them a while to gain the necessary experience to iron out potential complications associated with this technique.

The permanent nature of threads meant that they were not absorbed by the body and remained in the tissue indefinitely, causing all sorts of problems in the long term.

Absorbable Thread lifting is a new technology compared to the older style permanent threads. How does this technology work?

The invention of absorbable threads in the last few years has given cosmetic physicians a new and valuable tool.

Ever since its introduction to the Australian market, thread lifts have become more reliable with greater patient satisfaction, better clinical results and very few complications when performed by an experienced doctor.

Which particular effects of aging can Absorbable Threads help to reduce?

PDO Threads, Mint Threads, Silhouette Soft and Promoitalia Threads can be used to:

  •  Lift and add volume to sagging cheeks
  •  Elevate sagging brows (to a degree)
  •  Elevate and refresh marionette lines and nasolabial folds
  •  Support and revitalise the neck area
  •  Revitalise and lift the jowl area

What are various types of Absorbable Threads?

There are two main types:
  •  Lifting threads
  •  Revitalizing threads
As the name suggests, the lifting threads are used to lift the sagging facial tissue. The Revitalizing threads are primarily used to rejuvenate and thicken sun damaged fragile skin.

Can absorbable Threads be combined with other cosmetic treatments?

At Rejuvenative, we rarely use a thread lift as a stand-alone procedure. We routinely combine Threads with dermal fillers, fat transfer and skin resurfacing procedures as part of our non-surgical facial make-overs.

How long will the results last?

Most patients report longevity of up to 3 years. Due to the absorbable nature of threads, more threads can be inserted at any time to maintain the results over the years to come.

Am I a candidate?

Suitable candidates for a thread lift procedure are those who are experiencing mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, usually in their 30’s and 40’s. These patients either do not want or are not ready for surgery. They want something more than what dermal fillers or non-surgical skin tightening procedures can offer.

Who is not suitable for this procedure?

Unsuitable candidates for thread-lift surgery include:
  •  Patients with very thin, fragile skin associated with advance facial ageing
  • Patients with heavy jowls, excess skin and or excess facial fat, which may require surgical removal
  •  Patients with significant facial hollowing/volume loss
  •  Patients who do not have realistic expectations
  •  Those with any medical contraindications

Excellent alternatives to thread lift procedures include:

  •  Liquid Face Lift with Dermal Fillers
  •  Mini Face Lift
  • Facial Fat Grafting

How is the procedure performed? Is it painful?

Absorbable thread lifting is performed under local anaesthesia as a walk-in walk-out procedure in under 60 minutes. Most patients tolerate the procedure well and are often surprised by how quick and easy it is to have it done. Threads are inserted
deep under the skin using fine needles and there is no cutting or stitching involved. Threads are not visible on the skin’s outer surface.

What is the recovery like?

Most patients can go back to work on the same day. However, some patients may require a supportive micropore tape applied on top of the skin to take the pressure off the threads and help them settle in a place for first 3 days.

How much does silhouette soft cost?

Thread lifting is often combined with other non-surgical procedures likes Dermal Fillers and Laser Skin Resurfacing for a complete non-surgical makeover. Prices depend upon the number of threads required to achieve the required results and can cost anywhere between $1500 to $3500.
